York says 49ers will hire GM, won't commit to Sing

CSNBayArea.com staffAfter a 25-17 loss to the Rams eliminated the 49ers from playoff contention, 49ers owner Jed York said the team will hire a General Manager and did not commit to Mike Singletary being his head coach for the team's Week 17 game against the Cardinals. "Money is no object," York said. "Our object is to win the Super Bowl."Singletary was seen on the sidelines arguing with quarterback Troy Smith and later benched him in favor of Alex Smith. The 49ers have been without a GM since Scot McCloughan left the team in March and later took a job with the Seahawks.
