Vernon Davis has entered a contract with Fantex, Inc. in which the San Francisco 49ers tight end received $4 million in exchange for a 10 percent interest in the "brand income" of Davis. It reportedly includes his playing contract, endorsements and post career interests.
Fantex, Inc., is a brand building company based in San Francisco that purchases a minority interest in athlete brands and works to increase the value of the brand.
Davis, 29, signed a five-year contract with $23 million guaranteed in 2010. His base salary is $6 million this season. He is in the midst of a big year, with 29 receptions for 518 yards and seven touchdowns through seven games.
Davis joins Arian Foster as the first NFL players to align with Fantex, Inc. The company previously filed for a proposed initial public offering of a Fantex, Inc. tracking stock -- Fantex Arian Foster -- from the SEC.
