After win over Giants, Padres place Richard on DL

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) The San Diego Padres have placed starting pitcher Clayton Richard on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left shoulder and recalled reliever Luke Gregerson from Triple-A Tucson.The move announced Tuesday comes a day after Richard tossed five scoreless innings in a 5-3 victory over the San Francisco Giants. He was taken out after throwing 73 pitches because of stiffness in his shoulder.Richard has won three straight starts to improve his record to 5-9 and lower his ERA to 3.88.Gregerson is 2-1 with a 2.63 ERA in 30 outings for the Padres this year and is coming off two rehab stints after straining a muscle in his side. He set a major league record with 40 holds last season, working a career-high 80 games.
