UPDATED 5:31 p.m.: Johan Franzen will not play for Detroit in Game 7 due to a lingering ankle problem. The news was reported on Chronicle Live by Detroit Free-Press reporter Helene St. James.

SAN JOSE -- Detroit's Johan Franzen is a game-time decision for the series-deciding Game 7, coach Mike Babcock said Thursday after the team's morning skate.

Franzen has a sprained ankle and was replaced by Mike Modano in Game 6.

Thats all its about -- can he go, can he compete in a one-on-one battle, can he get the puck out, can he get it in? Babcock said.

Can he get going or can he not get going? They tried something different with him today, so if that can help him, then great. If not, weve got lots of guys hungry to go.

Franzen injured the ankle in Game 2 of the Phoenix series.
