A's call up 6-7 RHP Magnuson, option Blevins

Trystan Magnuson, acquired from Toronto in the Rajai Davis trade, was called up Wednesday by the A's. He is making his first appearance on a major league roster.

Magnuson (0-1, 1.56 ERA in Sacramento) had three saves in 12 relief appearances for the River Cats. The 6-foot-7, 210-pounder has struck out 19 in 17.1 innings.

The native of Vancouver, Canada pitched three seasons at the University of Louisville, posting a 4-2 record with a 3.69 ERA in 13 career appearances. His Magnuson ranks fourth in school history with a 3.97 career ERA.

Blevins, who entered 2011 with a 3.97 ERA in 125 games over four seasons with the As, had recorded a 0-0 mark and team-high 4.61 ERA (7 er, 13.2 ip) in 14 relief appearances with Oakland this year. He had also walked 12 batters in 13.2 innings, while striking out 13.
