A's Cespedes finished second to Trout for AL Rookie of the Year

A's outfielder Yoenis Cespedes finished second in the Baseball Writers Association of America American League Rookie of the Year voting.

The Angels' Mike Trout won the award with a unanimous vote after hitting .326 with 30 home runs, 129 runs scored and 49 steals.
In his first year in Major League Baseball after defecting from Cuba, Cespedes hit .292 with a .356 on-base percentage and .505 slugging percentage. He hit 23 home runs and drove in 82 runs in 129 games played.
Cespedes is under contract with the A's through 2015 and is set to receive 29.5 million over the next three seasons.
