Giants' closer Brian Wilson has established a scholarship in honor of his late father in partnership with the Air Force Association.

The new scholarship was announced on Memorial Day at the Air Force Memorial in Virginia.

The fund will be named the Michael Wilson Scholarship, to honor Michael Wilson's memory and service in the U.S. Air Force.

Wilson's scholarship is the largest to be given by an individual and be administered by the Air Force Association. The Michael Wilson Scholarship will be awarded once a year for the next five years to two deserving AirmenAirwomen on track to be officers.

This scholarship is not a donation in my mind, but rather a reward to those who put their country before themselves; a reward that dictates diligence, leadership, perseverance and patriotism," Wilson stated. "It is an honor for me to contribute to the men and women who represent America. Most of my family served and our flag is etched in my heart. From an early age, I learned punctuality, order and reliance. These traits have molded me into the man I am today. Thank you cadets for your admiration and loyalty to our homeland."
