Cal-Hi Sports Bay Area
This past weekend was bittersweet for me. It was the CIF State Basketball Championships and although it was an unbelievable experience, it also signaled the end of basketball season. This was my first basketball season working for Cal Hi Sports Bay Area and it was most definitely a memorable one! Leading up to this weekend I witnessed so many exciting plays from buzzer beaters to high flying dunks to even a triple overtime thriller and was so grateful to be a part of it. So many teams had incredible seasons, but there were only a handful that made it all the way to the State Championship game in their division.
The CIF State Championship games was a two-day event held in Sacramento at the Sleep Train Arena. Cal Hi Sports Bay Area was there both days covering the action. I was responsible for two of the Friday games, both for the girls. The first was the Division V final between Pinewood and Sierra Canyon and the second was the Division III finale between Sacred Heart Cathedral and Alemany. Both games displayed some of the top talent from all over the state of California. Unfortunately, the two Bay Area teams (Pinewood and Sacred Heart Cathedral) came up short and were both awarded the State Runner-Ups. Despite the heartbreak, these two teams have so much to be proud of to even make it to this game.
With the basketball season now officially over we now have a new array of sporting events to look forward to including baseball, softball and lacrosse! So be sure to check out all of our highlights from all of these great sports!
