Seen: Walking Wounded...

One of the first players to emerge into the Clubhouse this morning was the A’s closer. Yes, the same A’s closer who had surgery on a torn meniscus just yesterday.

Grant Balfour didn’t even bother to use crutches, and with no swelling on his right knee, he hit the training room to start his rehab process less than 24 hours after going under the knife.

"You don't reel him in. Just try to contain him a little bit,” Bob Melvin said.

Sure looks like he’s on target for Opening Day.

Heard: MLB Lingo

“What’s up bros,” Hiro Nakajima exclaimed as he walked into the clubhouse, and then he flashed his signature smile.

It seems his teammates are teaching him some essential English phrases, including “S’up girl, can I get you a drink?”

But that was all in jest. The actual first English word Hiro wanted to be familiar with--related to the game--is “consistency”. That is his goal for the season. “No inconsistency,” he reassured me.

And inquiring minds wondering what Yoenis Cespedes' first English phrase was when it came to baseball, “I got it!”

MVP Status: Sonny Days in AZ

Melvin said the A’s prospect once again stood out to him, as Sonny Gray threw for the second time this spring.

“He threw really well. You can see the stuff. I think he's more comfortable this camp,” Melvin said.

Around the horn: What’d you do for the Off-Season

Just like the first day in Elementary School, when you would swap stories about your summer vacation, so the A’s have been trading tales of their off-season.

And the winner is…Or so they tell me…Jerry Blevins, Ryan Cook and Sean Doolittle who all took a trip to Belize together.

Also topping the charts, Dan Straily who got married, and Tommy Milone who popped the question to his lovely girlfriend Tina.

Meanwhile, Travis Blackley spent time back in the land down under with his son.
