With their future in Sacramento set for 2011-12, the Kings continued to put the pieces in place Wednesday by exercising the rookie contract options on guard Tyreke Evans, forward Omri Casspi and center DeMarcus Cousins for the 2012-13 season.
Sacramento president of basketball operations Geoff Petrie made the announcement in a team press release.
Evans averaged a team-high 17.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, a team-leading 5.6 assists and 1.49 steals per game last season. The former Rookie of the Year is only the fourth player in NBA history to average 20 points, five rebounds and five assists as a rookie.
Casspi, a two-year NBA veteran, averaged 8.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game with Sacramento last season. He is the first Israeli-born athlete to play in the NBA after being selected by the Kings with the 23rd overall pick in the 2009 draft.
Cousins averaged 14.1 points, a team-high 8.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.05 steals per game as a rookie. He set a new Sacramento-era rookie record for total rebounds in a season (699).
