A's recall Devine, Blevins; Ross, McCarthy to DL

May 20, 2011A'S PAGE A'S VIDEOCSNCalifornia.com staffThe A's bolstered their injury-ladenbullpen, recalling Jerry Blevins, Joey Devine and Fautino De Los Santos from Sacramento on Friday.The move comes as the team placed starting pitchers Brandon McCarthy and Tyson Ross on the 15-day disabled list.
McCarthy, who has a stress fracture in his throwing shoulder, pitched a no decision game on Wednesday, while Ross left Thursday's game after throwing only seven pitches with a strainedleft oblique.Ross moved into the rotation April 22 as a replacement for Dallas Braden. Braden had season-ending shoulder surgery on Wednesday.Devine, who missed the entire 2009 and 2010 seasons after undergoing Tommy John ligament replacement surgery, was acquired by the As in the Mark Kotsay trade with Atlanta prior to 2008. That year he posted a 6-1 record and 0.59 ERA in 42 relief appearances.

Magunuson made his big league debut Tuesday against the Angels, yielding one hit and striking out one batter in pitching the final inning of the As 14-0 win.
