The A's have announced that left-handed pitcher Josh Outman has been recalled from Triple-A Sacramento. Outman is scheduled to make his first appearance of 2011 tonight in Anaheim, where the A's open their four game set against the Angels.
GUTIERREZ: Outman to return against Angels

Outman, 26, had Tommy John surgery on June 30, 2009 after leaving a game in San Diego with a strained elbow on June 19. He missed the entire 2010 campaign as he rehabbed from surgery and started the 2011 season in Sacramento.

Outman was tied for fourth in wins in the PCL with a 4-1 record, but his 27 walks ranked third worst in the league.

The A's also announced they have designated left-handed reliever Jerry Blevins for assignment. Blevins was recalled from Sacramento on Friday, and he pitched on Saturday against the Giants, going two-thirds of an inning, giving up a hit and intentionally walking one in the Giants' 3-0 win.

For the 2011 season, Blevins appeared in 15 games with no record and a 4.40 ERA.
