Still looking for a head coach to ring in a new era, the Lakers plan to interview Lionel Hollins, according to a Yahoo! Sports report

As both a player and coach, Hollins has been affiliated with the NBA since 1975, bringing nearly 40 years of league experience to the table.

In his latest coaching campaign, he led the Memphis Grizzlies to a franchise record 56-win season.

The defensive-minded leader has a proven track record that also includes playoff experience. Most notably, his eighth-seeded Grizzlies defeated the top-seeded Spurs in 2011.

They weren't a one-hit wonder either, making it to the postseason the next two years as a No. 4 seed, losing to the Clippers in Round 1 and the Spurs in the Western Conference finals.

Hollins joins a list of candidates in what has been a tedious, ongoing process for the Lakers organization.
