San Jose’s Daniel Cormier appears headed for a UFC 175 showdown against another former Olympian and a future Hall of Famer: Dan Henderson.
Multiple reports say Cormier, 35, will face Henderson, 43, on July 5 in a light heavyweight bout after a previously discussed fight against Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante apparently fell through. The UFC 175 card at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas will be headlined by a middleweight title match between champion Chris Weidman and former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida.
Cormier (14-0), is coming off an impressive 1st round TKO win over Patrick Cummins at UFC 170 in February. The fight was Cormier's debut at 205 pounds after spending his entire career at heavyweight.
Henderson (30-11), the former Strikeforce light heavyweight and middleweight champion, is coming off a comeback knockout victory over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in March. The win was Henderson's first in four fights.
