Jim will bring physicality and toughness to our blueline while bolstering our depth, said Wilson. He has proven to be a great teammate in his career and will be counted on as a steadying presence.
The 31-year-old veteran has posted 101 points (24 goals, 77 assists) in 436 career games split amongst Edmonton, Phoenix, Calgary, Philadelphia and Chicago.
Vandemeer is the second defenseman the Sharks have brought in this offseason, as they made a draft-day trade to acquire Brent Burns from Minnesota.
