Stanford linebacker Shayne Skov will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a knee injury in the Cardinal's win over Arizona on Saturday, the team announced Monday.

Skov led the Cardinal with 84 tackles as a sophomore in 2010, despite missing the first two games of the season.

Its a big loss for our football team, but we have great leadership on defense from players such as Michael Thomas, Delano Howell and Chase Thomas," head coach David Shaw said. "Weve also recruited very well recently and now it is time for guys to step up.

In the Cardinal's 40-12 Orange Bowl victory over Virginia Tech Skov had a monster game, registering 12 tackles and three sacks.

In two plus games this year, Skov had a team-high 19 tackles, including five tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks.
