AKRON, Ohio -– Following a round that featured an erratic performance off the tee, Tiger Woods was far from pleased after a 1-over 71 in the second round of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
Woods bogeyed the ninth hole, his last, to finish the day at 1 under. He struggled with the driver and missed several short putts, and as a result sits seven shots behind Justin Rose heading into the weekend.
“I didn’t do anything well,” he said. “The only thing I did well was I fought hard. Grinded hard. Unfortunately, it wasn’t very good today.”
Woods found the fairway only once in nine attempts with his driver, and he has hit just 12 of 28 fairways for the week. After an opening birdie on No. 10, wayward tee shots led to bogeys on three of his next 10 holes before birdies on Nos. 3 and 5 brought him back to even for the day.
