As vice president and general manager Billy Beane was presented with the Sporting News Executive of the Year Award Wednesday night at the leagues annual GM Meetings in Indian Wells, Calif.
It's the second time Beane has won the award. He also was named Executive of the Year in 1999.The 50-year-old Beane took home 31 votes to finish ahead of the Washington Nationals Mike Rizzo (13) and the Texas Rangers Jon Daniels (6). Sporting News has presented the award since 1936.
