Cspedes, 26, was not made available to the media Saturday.

He becomes the 11th Cuban-born player in Oakland As history. The previous 10 were Campy Campaneris, Jose Canseco, Ozzie Canseco, Tito Fuentes, Orlando Gonzalez, George Lauzerique, Marty Martinez, Ariel Prieto, Diego Segui and Jose Tartabull.

He will wear jersey No. 52.

To make room on the 40-man roster, the A's placed Scott Sizemore on the 60-day disabled list. Sizemore suffered a torn left ACL in the team's first full-squad workout last Saturday.
