A day after sending Brandon Inge back to the Bay Area from Chicago for an MRI on his shoulder, the team announced Tuesday the third baseman is headed to the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 12. Inge injured his shoulder diving for a ball in the A's win over the White Sox on Saturday. The team announced Josh Donaldson will replace him on the roster. After Inge went down, A's manager Bob Melvin on Sunday suggested time without Inge seemed possible."It may be a little bit longer than we first expected ... We're going to fly him home tomorrow, get him an MRI and have our doctors take a look at him." Inge was batting .216 with 12 home runs and 52 RBI in 82 games before the injury. Donaldson joins the As for the third time this year and is batting .153 with one home runs and seven RBI in 28 games. He was on the Opening Day roster and hit .094 with no RBI in nine games before he was optioned to Sacramento April 23.
