A's sign P Bartolo Colon

The Oakland As announced today they have signed right-handed pitcher Bartolo Colon to a one-year contract for the 2012 season.

Last season Colon pitched in 29 games for the Yankees (26 starts) with an even 4.00 ERA in 164.1 innings. He finished 8-10.

The A's are Colon's seventh major league team. The 38-year-old began his career in 1997 with the Cleveland Indians before spending time with the Expos, White Sox, Angels, Red Sox and Yankees.Last season for the Yankees, he started in three games against the A's, going 2-1 with a 2.82 ERA, striking out 15 and walking one batter in 22.1 innings. He shut out the A's 5-0 in Oakland on May 30, with a complete game four-hitter.
Colon won the American League Cy Young award in 2005 as a member of the Angels when he went 21-8 with 3.24 ERA and 157 strikeouts.
