Marcus Jensen, a longtime manager in the A’s farm system, will take over as the club’s roving minor league hitting instructor.

Jensen replaces Todd Steverson, who was hired away to be the Chicago White Sox’s hitting coach. Otherwise, most of the A’s top minor league posts remain unchanged for 2014. Steve Scarsone returns to manage Triple-A Sacramento and Aaron Nieckula will once again guide Double-A Midland.

Ryan Christenson, a former outfielder who played with the A’s from 1998-2001, will take over as manager of Single-A Stockton after being bumped up from low Single-A Beloit (Ill.). His pitching coach will be another former Athletic, John Wasdin, who has served in the same capacity at lower levels of the A’s system.

Rick Magnante was promoted to manager of Beloit and David Newhan, a 1995 draft pick of Oakland, will replace Magnante as manager of short-season Single-A Vermont. Vermont’s new hitting coach, Tommy Everidge, also will ring a bell with A’s fans. The Sonoma native spent a 24-game stint as the A’s starting first baseman in 2009.

Ruben Escalera will replace Jensen as manager of the A’s Arizona Rookie League affiliate.
