UPDATE (7 p.m. on Wednesday) -- A's FanFest has sold out, as over 20,000 fans are expected to attend the event.
The A’s announced 21 players who will attend Saturday’s FanFest, and the list includes many marquee names from the 2014 roster.
The lineup of attendees: Yoenis Cespedes, Josh Donaldson, Sonny Gray, Josh Reddick, Ryan Cook, Sean Doolittle, Jarrod Parker, Tommy Milone, John Jaso, Derek Norris, Jesse Chavez, Dan Otero, Eric Sogard, Dan Straily, Stephen Vogt and several newcomers to the team, including closer Jim Johnson, outfielder Craig Gentry, infielder Nick Punto, left-hander Drew Pomeranz, reliever Eric O’Flaherty and catcher Chris Gimenez.
The annual event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be held at both the O.co Coliseum and Oracle Arena. Manager Bob Melvin and members of his coaching staff also will be on hand. Vida Blue, Ray Fosse and Gene Tenace will be there to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the 1974 World Series championship team, and Dave Henderson and Tony Phillips will attend from the 1989 club, celebrating the 25th anniversary of its championship this season.
FanFest includes a chance to get autographs, take photos with players, participate in player Q & A sessions, buy tickets for the 2014 season and take part in a memorabilia sale that benefits the A’s community fund.
Arena doors open at 9 a.m. and the Coliseum doors open at 10:15 a.m. Tickets are on sale now at oaklandathletics.com.
