Korach named Sportscaster of the Year
Ken Korach was honored with his first California Sportscaster of the Year award in his 18th season with the A's.
Ken Korach was named California Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association on Thursday, besting finalists John Ireland (Los Angeles Lakers radio) and Vin Scully (Los Angeles Dodgers radio).
Korach completed his 18th season with the A's and 22nd year in the American League. Only legendary sportscaster Bill King has spent more years doing radio play-by-play for the Green and Gold.
Ken is a graduate of UC Santa Barbara and lives in Henderson, Nev. in the offseason with his daughter, Emilee, and wife Denise, the director of baseball administration for the Las Vegas 51s of the PCL.
The A's released the following statement after the announcement:
Congratulations to Ken Korach for being named the California Sportscaster of the Year!
