OAKLAND -- Jarrod Parker will take the mound tonight for the Oakland A's, and Yoenis Cespedes is starting at designated hitter in the series opener against the Angels.

It was believed Parker might pitch after being scratched Sunday due to a stomach ailment. Cespedes' status was more of a mystery after he was scratched Sunday with right shoulder soreness. He was scheduled for an MRI today, but his shoulder obviously is well enough for him to hit cleanup against the Angels.

Shortstop Jed Lowrie, who left Sundays game with tightness in his hamstring, is not starting. Andy Parrino is playing short.
