ANAHEIM – The Oakland A’s and Seattle Mariners will play a traditional doubleheader May 7 at the Coliseum to make up for the April 4 game postponed due to wet field conditions.

The teams will play their regularly scheduled game at 12:35 p.m., with the second game to begin 30 minutes after completion of the first. One ticket is good for both games.

Fans holding tickets to the April 4 game can redeem the paid value for a ticket to a future A’s home game this season, including the doubleheader, subject to ticket availability. Also, as a thank you to fans inconvenienced by the postponement, the team is offering four free tickets per account to a game during that Seattle series from May 5-7. Ticket holders will be sent an e-mail with information about redemption. The deadline to redeem is April 30 at 11:59 p.m.

Both games of the doubleheader will be televised on Comcast SportsNet California.

The scheduling of the doubleheader works out well for the A’s in that they have days off May 1 and May 8, the day after the twin bill. That rest will make things a little easier on their pitching staff. It’s not so great for the Mariners, as the doubleheader will come in the middle of a 16-day stretch without a day off.

In other news, the A’s claimed reliever Marcus Walden off waivers from Toronto on Wednesday and optioned him to Triple-A Sacramento.
