PHOENIX – The A’s could be going international once again.

Oakland is under consideration to play in a possible season-opening series in Taiwan in 2015, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed to CSN California Wednesday night.

The San Francisco Chronicle was first to report the news earlier in the night.

The A’s have twice opened the season in Tokyo – they split two games with Boston in 2008 and split another pair with Seattle in 2012. After each trip, A’s officials expressed their pleasure with the experience and a willingness to play abroad again.

That desire could go a long way in making them a favorite if a Taiwan series did materialize. There are no concrete plans for MLB to travel to the country yet.
