The A's optioned first baseman Nate Freiman and right-handers Josh Lindblom and Arnold Leon to Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, leaving 35 players in big league camp.

Freiman was a notable contributor last season in a platoon with Brandon Moss. But with the A's planning to carry six infielders, he faced an uphill battle to make the roster.

Lindblom had an outside shot at a bullpen spot, but he'll work out of Sacramento's rotation and figures to be one of the first options should the team need a starter from the minors.

Leon has climbed his way up the minor league ranks and it's conceivable he could work his way to Oakland this season with a good showing in the River Cats' rotation.
