The A's have placed catcher Derek Norris on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to August 21 with a fractured left big toe, the team announced Friday.

Norris was batting .232 with eight home runs and 26 RBI in 84 games.  This is his first career stint on the disabled list.

Norris suffered the fracture following a play at the plate in Tuesday's loss to the Seattle Mariners.
