The A's placed left-handed starter Drew Pomeranz on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured right hand Tuesday and recalled reliever Evan Scribner from Triple-A Sacramento.

At the same time, the A's announced their trade for lefty Brad Mills, acquired from Milwaukee for cash.

Mills has been pitching well at Triple-A this season and seems to be a rotation option with Pomeranz sidelined for the time being. The A's could also turn back to Dan Straily, who opened the season in Oakland's rotation and is currently with Sacramento.

Manager Bob Melvin will likely provide some clarity when he addresses reporters before Tuesday night's game against Texas.
