A's promote Zaidi to assistant GM/director of baseball ops

The A’s announced a promotion within their front office ranks Tuesday, as Farhan Zaidi was named Assistant General Manager/Director of Baseball Operations.

Zaidi, 37, is entering his 10th season with the A’s, and he’s served as the director of baseball operations since 2009. David Forst, also an Assistant General Manager, remains the No. 2 man behind GM Billy Beane.

Zaidi has spent the past several seasons providing statistical analysis for potential trades, free agent acquisitions and draft picks. He also assists on arbitration cases, minor league contracts and analyzing advance scouting reports.

Before joining the A’s for the 2005 season, Zaidi worked as business development associate for Small World Media, a division of The Sporting News, and served as a management consultant for the Boston Consulting Group.
