The Angels have emerged as the front runner to sign Mark Mulder. An incentive-laden deal could be reached soon, according to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.

Mulder is considering "several offers," according to an MLB Daily Dish report, and expects a decision "sooner rather than later."

Mulder, 36, hasn’t pitched in the majors since 2008, but is eager to attempt a comeback. He tore his left rotator cuff in 2006 and was forced to have surgery on his left shoulder that September. Mulder returned in September of 2007, but went back under the knife for a second time in a second consecutive September. He made three appearances in late June and early July of 2008 before landing on the DL again.

The two-time All-Star spent his first five MLB seasons with the A's from 2000-'04. He collected an 81-42 record, a 3.92 ERA and 668 strikeouts to 298 walks in Green and Gold.
