Rickey Henderson will throw out the ceremonial first pitch during the Oakland A’s season opener Monday night at the Coliseum.

The Hall of Famer won the 1990 American League MVP with Oakland and was a key piece to the A’s 1989 World Series championship team, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this season.

Henderson has spent the past several years working as a roving minor league instructor in the A’s farm system. He also spends time in major league spring camp before moving over to work with the minor leaguers.
