OAKLAND – Shortstop Addison Russell will transfer from Single-A Stockton to Double-A Midland on Monday as he continues his rehab from a torn right hamstring.

It’s a sign that the A’s top prospect is progressing well from his injury. Russell spent five games with Stockton, going 3 for 16 with an RBI and stolen base. He began the season with Midland but injured his hamstring April 4, in just his second game with the Rockhounds.

Russell, 20, impressed in major league  camp this spring, and there was speculation on whether he might have a shot at cracking the majors sometime in the second half. That chance seems remote now after the time he’s missed recovering.
