SEATTLE — The A’s are putting a sudden halt to sales of their newly created monthly Ballpark Pass come Wednesday.
According to the team, it’s a positive development. The pass, which gives fans access to every home game in a month for $19.99, is a standing-room only ticket which can be located at different spots around the ballpark. Fans access the pass through the MLB Ballpark App on their phone and find out the day of the game where their ticket is for that particular game.
Because the passes were selling fast, the A’s decided to put a cap on sales. They’ve determined they can accommodate up to 2,000 fans per game in their standing room-only areas.
“We’ve received tremendous success with the pass since it launched last week,” said Catherine Aker, the A’s director of corporate communications. “These are Standing Room Only tickets so we need to limit availability. Since this is a new product, we wanted to roll it out in a way where we can make sure we provide good customer service and experience for fans.”
The pass will be on sale until 5 p.m. Wednesday through the MLB Ballpark app, which is free to download.
The A’s just announced the launch of the Ballpark Pass on Thursday, an outside-the-box approach to selling more tickets for a club that ranks 29th out of 30 major league teams in average home attendance (16,159).
