The A's have traded LHP Jeff Francis and cash considerations to the Yankees for a player to be named later, the team announced on Friday morning.

Francis made nine relief appearances with the A's, posting a 6.08 ERA in 13.1 innings.

He was designated for assignment by the A's on July 3 when Eric O'Flaherty was activated from the disabled list.
