A's recall Figueroa, option Miller to Single-A

OAKLAND -- The Oakland As recalled left-handed pitcher Pedro Figueroa from Triple-A Sacramento and optioned right-handed pitcher Jim Miller to Single-A Stockton, the team announced Friday.

Figueroa joins the As for the fifth time this year and has a 1.20 ERA and .170 opponents batting average in 11 relief appearances with Oakland. However, he has issued 11 walks in 15.0 innings for a .328 opponents on-base percentage. Figueroa pitched twice during his last stint from August 5-6 and did not allow a run in 3.0 innings. He logged a 2.45 ERA in seven relief appearances with Sacramento following his August 7 option and is 0-2 with a save and a 2.62 ERA in 32 relief appearances overall with the River Cats. Opponents batted .212 against him at Triple-A, including .190 by left-handed hitters.

Miller was 2-1 with a 2.02 ERA and .209 opponents batting average in 25 relief appearances over three stints with Oakland. He pitched just once is his most recent stint, which began last Friday, tossing 2.1 scoreless innings yesterday at Cleveland.
