It was the 49ers first victory after five losses to open the season.Alex Smith, who exited the 49ers' game Sunday in the second quarter against the St. Louis Rams with a concussion, took part in limited practice Thursday and is expected to start Monday night.Smith ranks behind only Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers among NFL quarterbacks with a passer rating of 104.1. Smith is completing a league-best 70 percent of his pass attempts with 13 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also is third in the NFL with an 8.0-yard average per pass attempt. But the 49ers continue to be a ground-based offense. Smith ranks 31st in pass attempts.Prior to the 2011 season, Raiders beat reporter Paul Gutierrez and I had an email exchange in which we compared Smith and Campbell -- the then-starting quarterbacks of the Bay Area teams.
