Six days after his most recent call-up, A's right-handed pitcher Evan Scribner was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento. Multiple sources say he was sent down to make room for infielder Adam Rosales.

Scribner, 27, was promoted to the big leagues on August 3, marking the third time this season he was called up. The reliever appeared in one game since joining the A's on August 3, pitching a scoreless inning against Texas on August 4. For Scribner's entire season with Oakland, he has pitched 19.2 innings with a 5.03 ERA, 5 walks, and 11 strikeouts.

Rosales has been designated for assignment twice in the past 10 days, first by the A's on July 31, then by the Rangers on August 5. The A's reclaimed the 30 year-old infielder on Thursday.
