SAN FRANCISCO -- Giants backup catcher Chris Stewart has been traded to Yankees for right-hander George Kontos.
Kontos, 26, allowed two runs in six innings for New York last September, his big league debut. He recorded a 2.62 ERA in 89 13 Triple-A innings.
Stewart appeared in 67 games last season for the Giants after Buster Posey was lost for the season. He hit .204.

The Giants opted to go with Hector Sanchez as Posey's backup.
