Report: Free agent Burriss inks deal with Reds

Emmanuel Burriss' days with the Giants are over; he signed a minor-league contract with the Cincinnati Reds Wednesday, according to a Baseball America report.

The utility infielder who has also played in the outfield was set for his first arbitration before the Giants outrighted him to Triple-A early in November

REWIND: Giants send Burriss to Fresno

Burriss, the Giants' 2006 first-round pick, spent the last five seasons bouncing between San Francisco's major league club and its minor league affiliates. Burriss is a .243 career hitter over his five MLB seasons with the Giants.

Burriss, 27, split time in 2012, hitting .213 in 60 games for the Giants and .274 in 29 games for the Triple-A Fresno Grizzlies.
