Pablo Sandoval and Marco Scutaro showed up ready to play in the World Series, entering their names in the Giants history books by compiling a number of impressive stats early on in Game 1.
- Pablo Sandoval recorded the fourth ever three-home run game in World Series history and the ninth three-home run game in MLB postseason history. He is the first player to go deep three times in a World Series game since Albert Pujols in 2011. The first man to do it was Babe Ruth in 1926. Ruth did it twice. Only Sandoval, Pujols, Ruth and Reggie Jackson did it in the World Series.
- Pablo Sandoval became the 10th player ever to have multi-home run game in Game 1 of a World Series, and the first switch hitter. Chase Utley was the most recent in 2009.

- Pablo Sandoval joined Benny Kauff (1917) and Jeff Kent (2002) as only Giants to record a multi-home run game in a World Series game.
- Pablo Sandoval hit the first first-inning home run by a Giant in a World Series since Mel Ott did so in 1933.

- Barry Zito extended the Giants' streak of games with an RBI from a pitcher to four. Over the past four games, Zito has two RBIs while Matt Cain and Ryan Vogelsong each have one.
- Barry Zito became the fourth ever pitcher to get a hit off Justin Verlander. Adam Eaton was the last to do so on June 17, 2007.
