UPDATED: Scutaro leaves early with left hip injury

UPDATED: (7:15 P.M.) It is a left hip injury for Marco Scutaro. He is going in for X-rays.

SAN FRANCISCOSecond baseman Marco Scutaro exacted revenge for Matt Hollidays takeout slide, which appeared to bend back his left knee in the first inning.

But the full price of that hard contact play has yet to be determined.

Scutaro hit a two-run single in the fourth inning that gave the Giants a 5-1 lead Monday night, but he was replaced by Ryan Theriot to begin the sixth.

Scutaro remained on the bench after he was taken out.

Holliday didnt slide into second base so much as fling himself into Scutaros legs to try to prevent a double play in the first inning. Scutaro stayed down for several moments as teammates hovered over him; he tried some light jogging in the outfield and stayed in the game.

Scutaro was 2 for 3 and his two-out, bases-loaded single to left field off Chris Carpenter opened up a 2-1 game. To add another tasty twist to the revenge angle, Holliday kicked the ball in left field for an error that allowed a third run to score.
