Jackson says ‘nothing to' lineups at this point

OAKLAND -- Warriors coach Mark Jackson said there was no rhyme orreason to it, but it was hard not to notice how he split his team into groupsduring Wednesdays morning practice.Heck, Richard Jefferson noticed, and so did Brandon Rush. And both of those players are vying for the starting small forward position.Jackson had three different groups of five players workingtogether, and one group certainly resembled what the starting lineup might looklike. On one team was Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Brandon Rush,David Lee and Festus Ezeli. On another team was Jarrett Jack, Kent Bazemore,Harrison Barnes, Carl Landry and Jeremy Tyler. In the final group, it wasStefhon Hannah, Charles Jenkins, Richard Jefferson, Lance Goulbourne and AndrisBiedrins.Andrew Bogut, who likely would have been with the firstgroup instead of Ezeli, was a limited participant at Wednesdays workout, androokie Draymond Green was held out of practice with left kneeinflammation.Jackson wouldnt say whether that first team was thestarting unit at this point.Thats just the way I broke it up from the first day,Jackson said. But theres nothing into it only because youve got to maketeams. One thing, though, is I wanted Steph and Klay to be together becausethey havent played much together.Jefferson and Rush, both veterans, seemed to know what wasup. You know what the situation is, Jefferson said. You knowwhat that is. But today is the second day of practice. We havent played apreseason game yet. We havent even scrimmaged among ourselves yet. So thoseare things I dont really pay attention to. Theres no controversy. Theresjust competitiveness."The Warriors would seem to have four starters penciled infor opening nightassuming Bogut is healthy enough to play. The only openspot is at small forward, where Jefferson, Rush and Harrison Barnes arecompeting.I think its just me being the veteran right now at theother wing position and knowing the plays right now, Rush said. Thatsprobably why Im in the first group, running with the starters.
