Wednesday is going to be a nice little day for Warriors pointguard Charles Jenkins.See, Wednesday is Aug. 1, and thats the day Jenkinscontractworth 762,195will become fully guaranteed for the 2012-13 season.Warriors general manager Bob Myers said Jenkins almost certainly will not bewaived today and that the second-year point guard is part of the teamsfuture.Myers said that barring something completely unforeseen,Jenkins will be on the roster on Wednesday. Only 200,000 of Jenkins contractis guaranteed at this point, but once Wednesday rolls around, hell earn anextra 562,195.The Warriors selected Jenkins, who played four years atHofstra, in the second round (No. 44 pick overall) of the 2011 NBA draft. Henot only wound up making the team last year, but he also played plenty in his rookieseason and even started almost half of the teams games. That playing time came in large part because of StephenCurrys ankle issues, but nevertheless Jenkins proved during his first seasonthat he could play in the NBA. Whether hes good enough to become a startingpoint guard, backup point guard or third point guard down the line remains tobe seen.Jenkins started in 28 of 51 games last year and averaged 5.8points and 3.3 assists in 17.5 minutes per game.Jenkins has acknowledged he is still learning the pointguard position, but his assist-to-turnover ratio is solid (almost 3-to-1) andhis decision-making has been sound.Hes also shown an ability to make open shots.Assuming the Warriors are healthy in 2012-13or at leastare in their backcourtJenkins might not play as much in his second year ashe did in his first.Curry is expected to be 100 percent by training camp, andthe Warriors also traded for Jarrett Jack, a quality backup at thepoint.
