Thompson climbing NBA rookie ladder

Klay Thompson put up a career-high 27 points against the Hornets Wednesday, and has been playing at a high level of late. The league is noticing; Thursday he was seen climbing the NBA.com rookie ladder.

Thompson, the 11th overall pick in this year's draft, is currently the fourth ranked rookie in the Association behind Cleveland's Kyrie Irving, the Kings' Isaiah Thomas and Denver's Kenneth Faried.

The Warriors are showing a lot of faith in Thompson. Since Monta Ellis was traded to Milwaukee, the rookie has averaged 37 minutes and 20 points per game.

He is one of four players who factor majorly into the Warriors' future, along with Stephen Curry, David Lee and Andrew Bogut.

Irving may have too much of a head start for Thompson to have any shot at the Rookie of the Year award, but the six-foot-seven, 205-pound swingman is proving he can be a productive player in the NBA.
