The Warriors front office will take this weekoff from hosting group workouts at their downtown Oakland facility and instead will bein Chicago for the predraft combine.General manager Bob Myers, minority owner Jerry West andseveral other members of the teams front office will be among more than 100NBA executives who will be taking a look at prospective draftees.Approximately 60 potential draftees will be on hand for fourdays of interviews, physicals, skill work and light workouts, beginning onWednesday.Prospects are also weighed and measured there. The Warriors head into the 2012 NBA draft with fourselections: The No. 7 pick, the No. 30 pick, the No. 35 pick and the No. 52pick.Much of the four-day event is spent interviewing thepotential draftees, with each team getting an opportunity to talk in-depth toapproximately 18 players. The players will also participate in smaller group workoutsover the course of the four days, along with some three-on-three and two-on-twodrills and games. But for the Warriors, the most important part of the trip islikely the interviews. Why? Because it might be the only chance the Warriorsget to talk to the player they may end up drafting.Keep in mind that Stephen Curry, whom the Warriors selectedwith the No. 7 pick, in 2009 and Klay Thompson, whom the Warriors selected withthe No. 11 pick in 2011 never worked out for Golden State in Oakland. The Warriors already have hosted about a half-dozen workouts at their practicefacility. Those are expected to reconvene next week, with the Warriors likelystarting to get glimpses of players they could eventually draft at No.7.But its possible some players the Warriors are consideringat that position wont come in for workouts. Most, if not all, of the playersthe Warriors have had in for workouts so far figured to be late-first orsecond-round picks or perhaps training camp invitees.
