The Reno Bighorns, NBA D-League affiliate of the Sacramento Kings, have named Joel Abelson as the team's new head coach for the 2013-2014 campaign. Last season's interim head coach Jason Glover was not retained after spending four years as the club's associate head coach.

Last season, Abelson led the Sioux Falls Skyforce to a 25-25 record. The team had a 10-win improvement with Abelson at the helm, and just came one game shy of playoff berth.

He first began his career with the NBA D-League as director of basketball operations with the Tulsa 66ers. But more recently, the University of Michigan graduate served four seasons as the Idaho Stampede's associate head coach from 2008-2012.
