A's sign Barton, Powell, Rosales to one-year deals

Catcher Landon Powell, first baseman Daric Barton, and utility player Adam Rosales all agreed to terms on one-year contracts with the Oakland A's, the team announced Monday.The A's also announced that their six arbitration eligible players -- Andrew Bailey, Dallas Braden, Joey Devine, Gio Gonzalez, Brandon McCarthy, and Ryan Sweeney -- were all tendered contracts.Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle tweeted Monday that Powell was one of the A's top candidates to be non-tendered. However, she reported that the team told Powell they wanted him back.

Powell, 29, hit .171 with one home run in 36 games with the A's last season as the backup catcher to Kurt Suzuki.Barton, 26, started at first base for the A's on Opening Day 2011, but was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on June 22 after hitting .212 with no home runs and 21 RBIs in 67 games.Rosales, 28, started his 2011 season on the 60-day disabled list with a fractured right foot. He hit .098 in 24 games with the A's after being reinstated from the DL on June 6. Rosales also hit .265 with three home runs and 22 RBI in 40 games with the River Cats last season.
