For Dallas Braden, the road to recovery is a long one. Fifty six games into the regular season, he still doesn't appear to be nearing a return. On Wednesday Braden threw from flat ground in the outfield. He threw from 80 feet and then moved to 60 feet. Our cameras caught the video of the throwing session. He appeared to be throwing without issue."You can tell by his demeanor he was pretty happy about being out there and throwing," manager Bob Melvin said. "So very encouraging."At one point it looked like Braden was even dancing to the music as he played catch in the outfield."That wouldn't surprise me," Melvin said.Braden's last start with the A's came April 16, 2011. He underwent shoulder surgery in May of that year. The surgery was performed by Dr. David Altchek, who performed a similar surgery on Mets pitcher Johan Santana.Melvin also mentioned that Brett Anderson would likely join the A's on Thursday. Anderson hasn't pitched since June 5, 2011. He is still working toward recovering from "Tommy John" surgery.
